AudioQueueProcessingTap for input (recording) queue?

Before I burn an hour on a prototype, does anyone know offhand if AudioQueueProcessingTap can be used with input (i.e., recording) queues? In other words, I want the tap to hand me the raw PCM for analysis / pretty waveforms before it gets encoded and my callback gets its buffers of AAC. I’ve only done taps on output queues to date.
