Maybe you could do this with help of Soundflower? It works a bit like the underpinnings of Audio Hijack Pro, basically lets you redirect the system's audio output into another audio-capable application. It's open source now, and currently hosted at Rogue Amoeba, but IIRC was developed completely independently.

Short answer: no. Medium answer: depends on precisely what you mean by "record speaker output".
