afconvert source code

Hi list!

Back in the Xcode 2.x times, sample code was installed in /Developer/Extras and /Developer/Examples folders. With 10.5 and Xcode 2.5, the source code of afconvert was published by Apple in /Developer/Extras, and it was tremendously useful!
Unfortunately afconvert source code can't be found on Apple website (the search feature on developer website is a catastrophy but this is another problem...).

I've found afconvert source code from 10.5 / Xcode 2.5 reinstall in a VM, but it fails to convert an mp3 file to ALAC, when of course it works as expected on 10.11...

Is afconvert source lost forever? is there any Core Audio source code that is considered a replacement? I'm specifically looking at mp3 to ALAC conversion (seems that PCM conversion as an intermediary in necessary).

Thanks for any help.
