the dreaded auval "Cannot get Component's Name strings" error

Hi all,

For some reason when trying to validate my AU I get this error:

ERROR: Cannot get Component's Name strings
ERROR: Error from retrieving Component Version: -50

* * FAIL

My other AU’s seem to validate fine. So I’m sure a made a mistake somewhere. The question is where :-)
Assuming that the error message is actually describing the problem itself and not some side-effect, how does auval get the “Component Name Strings” or the “Component Version” ?

It looks like no code is called at all. So I\m guessing the problem must be somewhere in the plist, but its more or less identical to AU’s that are loading fine.

You can find lot’s of people mentioning this error, but no one seems to know exactly the cause nor the solution :-(

anyone?

cheers,
Fokke
