Audio Unit Extension using an audio graph

Hi!

I'd like to develop an Audio Unit Extension of type Effect. Internally, I'd like to use other audio units connected in a graph to process the signal. Is that possible to accomplish using AVAudioEngine with AVAudioNodes? Or using AUGraph with AudioUnits? I have to figure out how to push and pull the buffers from my AUInternalRenderBlock into this graph...but I wonder if what I'm thinking is even possible?

Any comment pointing me to the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
