Hello,
following issue we face in our audio applications:
We use the kAudioDevicePropertyRelatedDevices to present only one audio
device to our users.
From Core Audio we e.g. see Built-in Audio Input and Output but our users
only see one device, Built-in Audio,
but our app will use both devices at the same time.
Now, with BlueTooth headsets - such as AirPods, but also with other
vendors - we have a problem here.
These headsets are not only ear phones but come usually also with a
microphone built-in, so you can make phone calls when connected to a
smartphone.
In this case, again, Core Audio presents us two audio devices, one for
input and one for output.
However, when asking for related devices, they always return an empty
list.
So first question is, why do they never identify each other as related?
Second, is there maybe any other way to find out that two BlueTooth audio
devices have a relation?
