Hi Martin,
Well that’s a helpful property I didn’t know existed. Apple’s only explanation
is:
The current audio sample rate, in hertz.
Not very helpful. Can anyone comment on whether this is the preferred recording
sample rate? What I can’t figure out is how to get determine which recording
sample rates a device supports. I’ve determined that the new iPad Pro gen 3
does NOT support 44100 recording rate without distortion, even though it allows
that rate (maybe a mistake in iOS?)
I use low level audio units for actual recording.
After AV session setup the .sampleRate property returns 48000 on my iPad Pro
gen 3 - 11”. I see that my iPhone XS also returns 48000, although my app uses
44100 recording rate on that device without distortion. My older iPad Mini
(iPad4,4) with iOS 12 returns 44100 with the same api call.
