I agree that it's weird, but sadly this is the case. You can try with any other
MIDI processor AUv3 like ZOA for instance.
There doesn't seem to be a good workflow in GarageBand where this fits in,
which is probably why it hasn't been added.
More even, MIDI processor AUv3s are even very buggy on macOS with Logic, I have
outstanding issues open with Apple about this.
