Another bit of good advice is to not attach really large, annoying signatures to your messages that frequently exceed the length of your actual message body. For example, if your .signature file comprises 15 or more lines, then it's way way too long and needs to be attacked with a chainsaw (or, if you're incapable of any form of editorial restraint, simply removed entirely). If your .signature also contains largely irrelevant information like your geek code, that's another major faux pas since that sort of information went completely out of style sometime back in the 90's, along with TV shows like Dawson's Creek and Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman (Important note: If you're still watching re-runs of either show, you should seek immediate professional help. And cut off that goddamn mullet). Nobody cares about your geek code or has the slightest interest in even trying to decipher it, so toss the sucker already and say Hello, World! to the new Millennium.
