[Apologies for boring subscribers with more nitpicking which might not be directly relevant to the Darwin platform, threading and parallel programming pitfalls are just too much fun to pass on]

While this is an interesting topic, it's really outside the scope of darwin-dev.


I suggest reading the threads on double-checked initialization in the comp.programming.threads newsgroup, where this has been discussed ad nauseum.
