Please see (for example) web100 based Network Diagnostic Tool (NDT)

Generally, it tells you where the bottlenecks are and the reasons.
It usually comes down to small buffers set for your 1000-Base-T card in
your kernel. I don't know, but perhaps someone else on the list can
point you to
procedures for increasing your Network I/O buffer size in Darwin.
Hope this helps.

Hello Sir,
I am using one Power G5 and Intel pro, both with MAC OS X 10.4.Each machine is having two 1Gbps network cards inbuilt and connected these machines with cross cable..But when i
transfer data between these machines using ftp(scp) [Data size is 50GB], i am getting bandwidth only 45Mbit/s . My harddisk(SATA) transfer rate is 150MB/s (Also 7200rpm ).Each system is having 1GB RAM.
It would be really helpful if any one tell me ,what could be the reason for lower bandwidth.
Also it wouldbe really appretiate How to get bandwidth 100Mbit/s or morethan 100Mbit/s.
Thanks & Best Regards
Anees
