Is there currently any way to run x86 Linux binaries on x86 Macs,
similar to Solaris (via lxrun) or FreeBSD? I use a proprietary Linux
application at work, and it would be great if we could simply run it on
Macs at home, or on any new MacBooks our lab might acquire. :) (No, the
software vendor isn't willing to give out the source code or recompile
anything as of yet.) I'm willing to put some work into it, but my
expertise is at the system administrator and scientific computing
level, so I don't know if this is within my grasp.
I imagine this would be useful to lots of people in the scientific
community... I realize VMWare and dual-booting options are on their
way, but a compatibility layer would be ideal for many of us.
Thanks,
Sarang
