Hi,

From what I have heard X11 fails miserably with Rosetta on the new Intel Macs.
Is this something to do with the way Rosetta handles things, or the way the
libraries that X11 are implemented.

It's something to do with the rumours sources you use; X11 and rosetta seems to function rather well for me (using an Intel iMac with a PPC windowmaker, rxvt, glxgears, idlde and gimp all appear to work). I'd recommend you just pick up an el cheapo Intel Mini, and test the apps you're expecting to use...

Also, is it possible to implement unix tools as universal binaries?

leeg@blatand:~>file `which cp` /bin/cp: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures /bin/cp (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386 /bin/cp (for architecture ppc): Mach-O executable ppc

Cheers,

Graham.
