I'm not dissing launchd, I'm just saying that I have encountered
particular situations where it didn't really seem to be the best
option. In particular, there was a situation where I had to start
Tomcat and a java application which needed MySQL to be running
beforehand.
Couldn't you put your server:8080 into the Sockets dict for TomCat
and have MySQL RunAtLoad [definitely not having launchd wait for /var/
mysql/mysql.sock to be accessed....]? Or is one of the application/
TomCat/Java too slow to start up for that?
