but what then is the benefit that darwin is open source? what do all the open source darwin devs then change?!
nothing like linux, where all the devs can optimize the code?!

so we never will see a high performance responding osx? the render speed and so on is really hot on my quad. but os x is responsing very slowly if you look at other systems, like amigaos, morphos or linux.

There are no such things, inside or outside Apple.  The way you get something optimized for G5, for example, is to recompile what you want with appropriate flags on the compiler line.

If you are not a coder, this is probably not a good idea to pursue.
