forward-porting

I'm interested in porting 10.3.9 to work on the latest Apple hardware. Initial attempts show thats its likely something in a device driver, though which one is still beyond me. It hangs at different places, and at different times after power on.
Any information (particular source files, packages even) would be of incredible help.
