o why is there no constant defined for "Facility"?
The man page gives this reasoning...
Also note the absence of a Facility key. The asl(3) API does not
require
a process to choose a facility name. The syslogd server will use a
default value of ``user'' if a facility is not set.
In other words the required keys are defined and populated with
appropriate defaults while the others are generally free form and
optional.
If you think that was a bad idea bug reporter is just a couple of
clicks away.
o Facility name:
"We're encouraging developers to try to use a "Reverse ICANN"
naming convention for facility names to avoid namespace conflicts."
What does it mean exactly?
com.mycompany.product.module
This type of things is used for bundle identifiers, etc. throughout
Mac OS X. Likely google could have answered it for you (even limited
to "site:developer.apple.com").
For your other bit^h^h^h^h issues... file documentation bugs if you
feel the man pages, etc. are not sufficient.
