Building Darwin to boot on multi-processor PowerMac G5 QUAD

  • Subject: Building Darwin to boot on multi-processor PowerMac G5 QUAD

I've asked this question on the Darwin-kernel list and have not yet had a response other than to post the question to this list.

I've been able to build a kernel that will boot on a TI PowerBook G4 but have not been able to figure out how to configure xnu to build a kernel that will boot on a PowerMac G5 QUAD. I've tried putting "multi" in the RELEASE second of bsd/config/MASTER.ppc. I've also seen -DNCPU in the bsd/config/Makefile.template which I've tried changing but doing that causes a routine to not compile. I've also tried putting "multi16" instead of "multi" in RELEASE in MASTER.ppc. All of my attempts to boot the kernel on the multi-processor machine have failed.

Does anyone know how to configure xnu so that it will build a kernel that will boot on a PowerMac G5 QUAD?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rand
