Hello all,
I have one doubt in the following sections.
We setup the link aggregation in MAC OS X ( one machine in Power MAC G5 Quad and Second machine MAC PRO) . We had aggregated the Two IGB ethernet links . We have checked the data transfer speed using FTP , AFP etc... But we can't get any benefit or speed using this link aggregaation. We got an information from apple mailing list that this bottlenck is due to Hard disk speed and we set up the eSATA raid . The two eSATA setup, one ESATA setup having 4 SATA Hardisk (7200RPM and 80GB Capacity per Hard disk) and second one having 4SATA Hardidisk ( 7200RPM and 160GB capacity per hard disk). These two eSATA having capable for sending 3GBPS data. We tested the transferring data speed using the indivitual eSATA harddisk (
i.e one to one data transfer using this eSATA harddisk) and we got 50MB/S data speed in each copy and we executed total 4 FTP or AFP program and totally we got 200MB/S. Then we created the raid in this eSATA setup using MAC default disk utility. We expect the result atleast 180MB/S in this raid setup. But unfortunately we got only 140MB/S in one FTP or AFP data transfer. We setup this raid using stripped raid ( raid 0).
We also checked the raid setup using 3 SATA hard disks each but the result is 140MB/S.
Could you please tell me what is the reason behind this problem. Is there any problem in raid setup?
Thanks & Regards
Anees
