Greetings,
I am getting a strange X11 error on Mac OS X 10.5 with AbiWord that was
working great on Mac OS X 10.4 with gtk 2.10.12, glib 2.12.12:
The program 'AbiWord-2.4' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 1487 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)
I tried running:
gdb AbiWord-2.4 --sync
And gdb reports:
unrecognized option `--sync'
So I can't get GDB to report any useful information, and I have no idea
where to start looking. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
According to <http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12995>, this
is a misunderstanding between gtk, cairo, and X11 about the bit depth of
"millions of colors", 24 or 32. Please file a bug with Apple's
bugreporter so that it gets more weight.
A reported workaround seems to be to set the output bit depth in the X11
Preferences to "Thousands of colors".
