Someone else suggested checking for the presence of ACLs, but that
won't work at all for Panther users, and it will only work for Tiger
users if they're running Server, so that one's out as well.
That someone was me and I have to apologize! I mistakenly mistook
"FileVault" for "Time Machine" so please ignore my previous post WRT
FileVault. (For Time Machine my comments would still be valid though ;-)
Unfortunatly I don't know about any general way of checking for
FileVault volumes.
One thing though: on Tiger the mountpoint for the FileVault volume
is not /Volumes/<name> but /Users/<name>. (I havn't checked Leopard
yet but I suspect the same.) So finding the Volume in the first place
might not be obvious.
The permissions for mounted FileVault volumes, or rather /Users/
<name>, differ from those for normal users. While not a sure fire way
this might be a hint.
