asr does not require a disk image; it can block copy one /dev node or
filesystem to another just as well as it can copy an image to a device.

asr efficiently copies disk images onto volumes, either directly
or via a
multicast network stream. asr can also accurately clone volumes
without
the use of an intermediate disk image.
