Not quite. cpp is the c preprocessor. You can always read the man page
for most of the executables (among other things). For example, try
man cpp
in the terminal.
I see in /usr/bin there is also the g++-4.0 and g++-4.2 also,,,,,,Duh!
g++ is indeed the c++ compiler front end.
