Now, I'm not sure if/how gdb supports debugging itself, as it depends on both gdb supporting this feature AND Apple supporting/enabling it (it may also be platform-specific [ppc vs intel]). You may need to add/enable printf-style debugging instead to figure out why gdb is having problems debugging your program...
