Nothing helps, I get the apple on the screen and then the kernel panic.

You haven't provided any useful information. You have described a symptom. Please post an example panic log from /Library/ DiagnosticReports


Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

http://developer.apple.com has good tutorials for 2 machine debugging
