Setting the list so that replies goes to the original poster and not to the list defeats that whole purpose. I'm on very many mailing lists, and fortunately this one is one of the few exhibiting this "problem". Sorry for the rant.
Before the list embarks on the standard discussion about this, can I point folk towards the standard rejoinder <http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html>.
I think there are very few people whose firm positions on this question have been changed either by discussion or by this document, and the discussion tends to generate more heat than light. Nonetheless, I thought I'd try to short-circuit the thread a little.
Best wishes,
Norman
(blissfully free of a firm position on the matter)
