DVI startup/wakeup problems

Hi folks,
This seemed to be the best possible Apple list to post this question to. Please point me in the right direction if it is not.
I'm having some intermittent problems with a MacPro with two ATI Radeon HD 5770 video cards and 6 1080p LCD monitors (2x DVI, 4x MiniDP to DVI). When waking from sleep, the monitor that is plugged in to the second video card's DVI port sometimes doesn't recover. Furthermore, it never recovers from a complete shutdown.
Unplugging and re-plugging the DVI cable fixes the problem. Shortening the cable from 25' to 10' made the problem less frequent, but did not completely fix it. Building on the cable-length success and thinking it might be a signal-strength issue, I added a DVI signal booster, but it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.
I'm at somewhat of a loss on what to try next. It's important that the machine and monitors be able to shutdown and startup automatically and cleanly as they're part of a video wall installation.
Thanks in advance,
Ian
