serial console

  • Subject: serial console

Previously, my questions on how to run OS-X or Darwin with a serial
console have gotten no reply. I'd assumed it just wasn't possible.

However, today I noticed that according to the web page for the new
"Xserv" (http://www.apple.com/xserve/), it features:

Serial console for UNIX-savvy administrators

Prefer to rule your domain through command line server
management tools? The serial port lets you do just that.

Since OS-X server is based on Darwin, I'd assume that one can run a
serial console in Darwin on older Macs (assuming one has a G4-port, or
similar; I do).

Can somebody please tell me how to enable a serial console so that I
can use for OS-X (and not just OpenFirmware & NetBSD).

Thanks,

Drew
