Oh thanks!
That's a good news...

Tiger now offers a stable VFS interface. However it is now very, very
different from any *BSD out there, so porting will be a more arduous
task.
The Darwin 8 source is now available and you should be able to find
the msdos and webdav VFS plug-ins up there. They should get you
started. I believe there is some documentation on the kernel
interfaces available in the xnu dir too.
Now that Tiger is shipping I would not spend the time trying to
support Panther and Jaguar's un-supported VFS interface.

Hi all,
My apologies if this has been discussed before on this list.
I'm new to Mac OS X from a Linux background. I am trying to port a
filesystem i wrote for Linux into Mac. But I couldn't find any
documentation on how the VFS operates in the Mac kernel. Does the
Mac allow you ro register your own filesystem? I read that
currently the kernel allows only leaf filesystems and not
stackable ones. What is the difference between them? I would
greatly appreciate it if anyone could provide any links/
documentation etc.

Hi all too,
these questions interest me too. I've looked at the documentation
and it stated that the VFS is currently uder big changes. Are these
changes stable now in Tiger?
Thanks.
