filesystem notifications (to userland)

  • Subject: filesystem notifications (to userland)

Hello!

So I have a filesystem that can be changed from external sources (the actual data for the file system is supplied from a userland daemon simular to webdav). So entire directory trees can be created and removed behind the kernels back.

So my question is, is there a need and/or way to let things like spotlight, kqueues, and etc. get notified from my kext? When a new directory tree gets added, it would be nice if things like spotlight can be made to notice and start cataloging those files.

Thanks in advance.
-Marek
