NFD_GLOBAL specifies the socket NKE is global. "Programmatic" == not
global.
But from your statement one thing might be in some test cases I am not
running my user land app. I wanted to get the NKE to just load and
start
filtering without the userland app being there. So does that mean I
would have to set up the socket from within the NKE?
If you are talking about a DLIL "filter" NKE, there is no socket
involved, because DLIL is below the socket layer.
As for all non-IOKit gizmos, you must load thesee by hand (e.g., in a
StartupItem, as is done for IPFirewall). Your NKE can start to work as
soon as it is loaded.
