Hello !
I was a bit too concise in my explainations. I simply reused a thread subject, thinking that it would ring a bell to those who previously answered.
When I said blocking writes, or other accesses, I meant *selectively* blocking writes, or link/unlink etc, a bit like what an antivirus app would do.
to answer what Shawn said, I saw the docs he refered to about interface filters, but since I'm a kernel virgin, I'm still trying to sort things out. From what I understood, I'd need to write a filter that would be loaded on top of, say, HFS+, right ? But on this page : it says "The details of the VFS subsystem in Mac OS X are in the process of changing in order to make the VFS interface sustainable. If you are writing a leaf file system, these changes will still affect you in many ways. please contact Apple Developer Support for more information." Hence my questioning here. But maybe this is outdated and the mechanism is replaced by filters in Tiger ?
thanks for your help ! On May 2, 2005, at 10:25 PM, Markus Hitter wrote:

What's wrong with mounting the thing read-only?
(or other accesses)
Why are you mounting it at all?
