Hmm, I see that (I was in 10.3.9 when I replied). I'm not seeing
the word "deprecated" in the actual IOSyncer source (doesn't mean it's
not there, but grep isn't finding my spelling of it) but I am seeing
the absence of it :-)

IOSyncer is deprecated--one should not use it in new code. Not all cases of it have been removed from Apple's code yet, though.
