I'm not certain if kernel debugging kits have been distributed for
x86 yet, but the inline serial debugger (KDB/DDB) should be
functional in the update (build 8B1072) that was issued for Developer
Transition Systems a while ago.
Hope that helps - perhaps someone else can comment on the
availability of Darwin/x86 kernels of recent vintage.
