Dear list members,
I am experiencing repeated and very similar kernel panics since one
month. Between one and three every day. I am using an iBook 1.33 GHz
with 512 RAM (the ones updated last july) and running system 10.4.5.
Also a iPod mini and a Wacom tablet with right drivers for Tiger. The
panic arises with or without any of them. With or without Airport.
With strom or battery.
Servers, services and startups: postgresql, iCal and cocoAspell
(dictionaries). No problem with them.
My expecience with obscure mac troubleshotting doesn't reach the
kernel levels so I decided to post this message. I haven't done a
zero reinstall from the system yet because I would like first to
undertand first what's going on.
I have sucessfully passed the Apple Hardware Text and another
complete scan of my memory with the Rember utility. And reset PRAM.
If you observe the log you will see that the caller (in the log) is
always the same and the adresses are always full with zeros. I
haven't found any example like this one on the whole web... And no
trace about any kernel module or dirty driver (as often are shown in
the examples). I have never found a dumped core in /cores or anywhere
(althought I edited /etc/hostconfig in order to enable them).
Any explanation/solution? I hope it's something interesting....
And finally, a different, minor, but related question. How could I
get into debbuger (like MacBugs with a Mac SE from those times?).
This month I have only found pdfs about two-machine debugger and
nothing more. If I set the corresponent boot-args in the OpenFirmware
and I press comand-power I get only another hang (without kernel
panic...).
Thank you very much,
Joaquim Soler
