There is a dual display (multiple monitors) support in mac os x.

I want to know what are the steps required to get this thing done as
well as how kernel manages dual display as an extended display, not a mirror.

Is it possible get an implementation detail of dual display? As an
example, One monitor is connected to VGA and another one is through
ADC connecter.

1. How system is presently supporting and implementing dual monitor in detail?

2. Is it possible to connect USB class monitor device as a secondary
display as an extended display in macintosh through USB port instead
of connecting through ADC port?

Please can anybody suggest me where should i start?
