vm_read() implementation details

Hi,

I wanted to confirm that vm_read() is implemented using the Mach IPC
backend. If positive, what is the message header and structure, and
how could I emulate this via mach_msg() style API. Apparently dtruss
can't be used to intercept and log mach traps.
