That might work -- but as you'd expect, it's not a configuration we've tested or that we support. I don't think the gdb binary itself uses any APIs or system calls that are Lion-specific, but running a binary built to run on Mac OS X 10.7 on a Mac OS X 10.6.x system is not something guaranteed to work.
