first, I just realized this topic is completely and entirely off-list, it should really be moved to a different list. But while we started it ...
Secondly, it is good to know what you ultimately are trying to achieve, that will give you better answers.
Now, as far as I know (I am not an Apple Employee, neither do I play one on TV), file syncing via ~/Library/Mobile Documents is an unsupported feature. You should be aware of that, it may go away any time.
But while it works, I presume that ANY file in that folder will get uploaded to the cloud -- that's the whole point, right?
Why don't you create the file somewhere else, in /tmp or any location outside of the "Mobile Documents" folder, and move it there when you are done?
