task_for_pid question

  • Subject: task_for_pid question

Given the changes in apple and the vast amount of contradicting info about this on the web, I have two questions:

1) Does the authentication required by Xcode when debugging apply to only gdb or is it also transferred to the debugged code?

2) Instead of sudo'ing, would adding a user to the _developer group do the trick to get task_for_pid return success instead of the dreaded status 5?

I am running 10.6.8

Thanks a lot!
