Wanted to check my understanding,

After Mac is hibernated, 
When Mac is booted/power on, 
->It will load boot.efi
->boot.efi will check hibernate flag from NVRAM
->If it is set then "boot.efi will load hibernate file" or "it will load kernel in special mode & kernel loads the hibernate file" ?? Can anyone help here
