Yeah, I'm aware of this technique as well, but as you say it interferes with codesigning, and we're targeting 10.9+. It might be practical if there is only a fixed set of configurations - in effect you'd be shipping multiple versions of the kext bundle, they just happen to all share the same binary. For a config change you then have to swap the info.plist and the signing files out and poke the kext cache. It doesn't work at all though if the configuration is open-ended in any way.
