Everyone knows that Macs are excellent tools for video editing and DVD
creation. But what happens when you want to use Macs and Mac OS X
technology to build a working television station? That's what Access
Healdsburg (AHTV), a community television station in the Sonoma wine
country, discovered as they built and operated their facility. AHTV
learned where the Mac shines, and where other platforms still rule. As
Chair of the AHTV Board of Directors, session presenter Tom Negrino
spec'd the gear, designed the workflow, and led the team that put the
station on the air.
In this case study, you'll learn how we spent a third of a million
dollars of other people's money over three years to build a
state-of-the-art facility from scratch at a fraction of what it used
to cost. Mac hardware and software was essential, but not sufficient,
to build the station, and you'll discover opportunities for smart Mac
developers to find new markets in the video business.
You'll see how you can integrate Mac and Windows hardware and
software in your studio facility; how to build your hardware and
software purchasing decisions around your production workflow; and
discover the lessons AHTV learned on the way to serving their
community.
