I got the flag values from the UNIX config guide - file "UNIX-STIG-
V4R4-09-15-2003-FINAL-Revised-9-25-2003.doc" - sorry no link
That is probably a DISA document. DISA has produced a series of
documents on security configuration for a wide range of technologies
(e.g. there is another one on deploying 802.11 wireless) that often
have "STIG" in the name. I think STIG stands for something like
"Secure Technology Implementation Guide", but am not sure.
Google with "DISA STIG UNIX" yielded these URLs:
NIST: http://csrc.nist.gov/pcig/cig.html
DISA: http://iase.disa.mil/stigs/stig/
DISA: http://iase.disa.mil/stigs/iadocs.html
If one browses the above URLs, there are not only current
UNIX STIG documents, but also a Macintosh STIG and a
(more recent) Macintosh Checklist.
