For the reason below, namely not allowing writable-drives or floppies,
it would be nice if Apple would reinstate the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
drive options as build-to-order options for all of their products.
For most users, it is great to have the writable drive be the
standard configuration item, but it would be nice to switch to
a read-only drive in a build-to-order configuration.
This issue affects many Federal agencies, contractors to Federal
agencies, but also security-conscious businesses and even some
K12 schools.

I sell to the National Labs and write capable optical drives
are not allowed in some secure areas.
