Want to make it even faster? Try this...

I've been using FireFox at the recommendation of some other users (users on non Mac platforms)... FireFox is EXTREMELY fast... VERY fast, like blazing laser light fast.

I have compared it to safari, and a typical SSL page on safari with content is taking 41 seconds to load...

The same server, same content with FireFox, less than 5 seconds...

I have also noticed this while public browsing... .Mac for example... when logging in to .Mac, you hit an SSL server when password is sent... Safari takes anywhere from 3-10 seconds... FireFox - instantaneous.

Is Tiger's Safari going to be any faster, or should I start deploying FireFox?

I *LOVE* Safari, don't get me wrong... I love Apple... but as I roll out more and more Apple, I get more and more "anti-apple" people finding every "inferior" piece of OS X and making light of it. To date, they have not been able to identify anything... until they started comparing Safari to the speed of IE and FireFox... IE is an easy argument, if you want security holes, use IE...

The only complaint I have about FireFox is that it does not sync bookmarks to .Mac like Safari does... however, they have released the .mac SDK, and I am working on a program that will allow FireFox to sync with .Mac just like Safari does... however, I do not want to do this program if Apple has significant performance improvements planned for the next Safari in Tiger.
