Smart Card (CAC) Admins / Users,
Many of you have been reviewing the DRAFT version I had posted a while
back and you suffered with the fact that you could not follow the
embedded links nor could you print it out during this "development"
phase. I have finally posted version 1.0 on my iDisk for your
immediate access, review, printing and of course day-to-day use.
Many folks have been providing feedback here and there which I think I
have incorporated in an organized fashion. Feedback is always welcome,
so if you find that a certain section is just not working for you or I
made a typo or just missed something you think needs to be there, do
not hesitate to send me a note saying so.
I need to reinforce the fact that this document is provided and
supported by me, Shawn Geddis, an individual and as a representative of
[STOS] Secure Trusted Operating System Consortium and is NOT a document
from Apple in any form -- Official or Unofficial!
There are still some final touches I am making to the individual
Installers as well as the Master Smart Card Reader Driver Installer
which I was hoping to provide to everyone as a Holiday Gift. Some may
be saying, "It's about time!" :) Well, you are right and I hope it is
not too late for some of you.
The Document and all of the installers will _ultimately_ all reside at:
Shawn's Smart Card Portal
http://homepage.mac.com/geddis/smartcards/
as well as...
[STOS] Consortium Website
http://www.stosdarwin.org/smartcards/
Shawn's current page to access:
http://homepage.mac.com/geddis/smartcards/FileSharing24.html
Folder: SmartCards
Configuration Guide: SmartCardAdmin_v1.0.pdf
Supported OS: Mac OS X 10.3.x
One area I would like to add or expand on in the future is a section
specifically references Federal Government Smart Card -- Directory
Services setup guidance. This would ease the learning curve for many
who need to make minor config changes to work in their specific
environments -- ie, AD. This would also make sense in being available
in script/installer format for easy deployment.
If you have an immediate need for any specific Smart Card Reader
Driver, please do not hesitate to contact me directly in the interim.
Thank you all for being patient and I hope this is helpful to you in
your efforts. I will be working on improving the navigation on the web
pages, but did not want to delay your access to it until then.
All comments, concerns, complaints, ... are always welcome....
-Shawn
