I am TDY so some delay in replying.
You slightly misinterpreted the Microsoft information. Microsoft has three mail protocols in Entourage 2004 -- pop, imap, exchange. True, your mail server _must_ be running Exchange 2000 for you to use the "exchange" protocol of Entourage. Or to have "exchange" features such as auto-posting to calendar, etc. (Paranthetically, my DOIM intends to upgrade to that, but it may be a year, or more, off, yet.)
However, the "pop" and "imap" protocols are supposed to work with any servers with pop or imap protocols running. My DOIM does have the imap protocol turned on at the server. As stated, I _was_ successfully connecting previously using the Entourage imap protocol prior to the move of the mailboxes.
The server administrator swears that it is the same program with the same settings that I was connecting to earlier; just a different hardware box (but also on a different domain in the same AD branch). Right now, neither of us can figure out why it shouldn't work, but it doesn't.
In addition, the Mac Mail application does not work either and should also work with any IMAP protocol mail server (and also did work prior to the move.)
