Side note I was rather disappointed that iCal still does not handle
https, i.e. SSL protected webdav sites, but "Connect to Server"
does at least.
A correction: some time before Aug 22, 2005, iCal had been enhanced
to be able to connect to SSL protected WebDAV sites (info from
MacOSXHints.com).
The remaining problem is that if you don't connect to the site first
using Safari or Connect to Server and make sure the certificate is
trusted by your system you can get a misleading error message that
implies that https is not supported by iCal. Untrusted certificates
are a problem when dealing with DOD sites and self-signed certificates.
This means for a multiple-platform calendar iCal can be used by the
OS X users instead of Mozilla with the Calendar module (Sunbird
project) (which does work on Linux and Windows).
