Title: Apple WWAN Breaks VZAccess for Verizon V740, V640 and USB 720 for Mac OSX v10.4.9
There is a serious conflict with Apple’s latest Mac OSX v10.4.9, Verizon’s VZAccess Manager (3.3 and earlier) for Intel-Based (MacBook & MacBook Pro only), which is used for following Verizon LAN Cards:
Available on the Verizon network:
•Novatel XV620 Express Card (EVDO Rev. 0)
•Novatel V740 Express Card (EVDO Rev. A)
•Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 (USB Adapter, EVDO Rev. A)
Apple released the Apple WWAN Support Update <http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/wwansupportupdate10.html> on 2/19/2007, which added support directly into Mac OSX for the above cards.
The Apple WWAN Update, which is built-into Mac OS X 10.4.9, takes a higher priority when you insert one of the above EVDO Cards into your Intel based Mac and when you run VZAccess Manager, your card will not be recognized. For new users of the Verizon cards, if they follow the directions included with their new card, they will see the following error:
This problem is also in the latest the VZAccess Manager 3.3.0 for the new Novatel V740 Rev A Express Card.
One possible solution for the Blackberry users can utilize the Blackberry, as a WWAN device in conjunction with Verizon VZAccess Manager for Cisco VPN connection is possible.
